Anyone else disappointed with tonight's top 20 American Idol's group performance? C'mon guys and gals - you have to sing together. It seemed like they were each trying to put their own spin on the songs. In the end it sounded awkward with no flow. It sounded worse than me and 19 of my buddies trying to karaoke!

I will say if I had to vote on one person standing out during the group performance tonight it would be David Archuleta... I can't help but love this kid!

Quick Note

I had to find a new salon and beautician to go to up here in Champaign. It's just not possible to drive to Effy every time I need a cut, color, or wax. Allie at Hair Designs At Knollwood did a FABULOUS job cutting my hair. I love it! It's just the right length! Pics coming soon...

School Days

This morning, Calvin wanted to take pictures. So, we decided to take the camera to school.

Calvin walking down the sidewalk to Chesterbrook Academy.

Getting ready to go into his school!

When we got to Calvin's school the rest of the class was in the multi-purpose room (a.k.a. gym). We dropped off Calvin's coat in his classroom and snapped a picture of him in his favorite chair to sit in and read books. For the 1st time ever, Calvin also decided to leave his backpack in his classroom on his hanger.

Then, we headed to the multi-purpose room where Maddox was eagerly awaiting Calvin's arrival. These two are inseperable at school. I think they're the backpack gang. They both wear their backpacks at school - they're cool like that. As you can see, Maddox had his backpack and Calvin did not... he told me to go get it after he saw Maddox's. We're bummed that Maddox turned 3 so as soon as he's potty trained he moves to the pre-pre-k room. They will really miss each other!
Side note: Maddox got pictures taken today for his new, future classroom. So, his mom dressed him up with a nice shirt, tie, and vest with a sweater over it to keep him warm. Anyway, ever since the wedding Calvin has had a thing for ties... he says it's like Chris. So, for Easter he picked out a tie to polish off his outfit. He saw Maddox' tie this morning and wanted to know if he could wear his tomorrow. I seriously hope he forgets about it! Im afraid if he wears his tomorrow, then Maddox will want to wear his on Monday and then the two of them will be wearing ties to daycare every day! I thought only girls wanted to dress alike!!! ;-)

This is Calvin and his class around 3p.m. today when I picked him up. They were playing with blue play-doh... gotta love that he steps on it and gets it in his shoes!

Calvn's New Pet???

You might think this is a picture of Chris and Calvin hanging out...

Look harder and you will see it is
Calvin and his puppy, Bo.
Last night Chris pretended to be the puppy Calvin is longing for.

It was funny to watch the two play.
Calvin enjoyed every minute of it!
I think Chris had fun, too!

Later, Calvin decided to be the puppy.
He barked too much!
We sent him outside!
This picture is of Calvin outside on our balcony...
Still pretending he's a puppy!

Bikini Body Sales???

In preparation for our honeymoon to Puerto Rico in a few weeks, I've done the following:

1.) Ordered new swimsuits

2.) Tanned

3.) Mentally packed our suitcases and started shopping for things we need (a.k.a. Chris needs shorts)

4.) Started to workout to get a bikini ready body...
But that's easier said than done. Anyone know when Macy's, Kohls, or even K-Mart is having a blue light special on six pack abs? I need some! I have had a strong desire to jog, lately. I think it's just a fantasy because I've only gotten up off the couch once to go out jogging... and it ended up as a walk with Chris. It's cold, snowy, and yucky outside... I don't want to run out there. I discovered that On Demand features exercise videos/shows. I made it through 10 minutes of Billy Blanks this morning before I was worn out! I'm really out of shape!!!

So, I am going to make a pledge to myself and the blogspot readers that I will participate in somesort of exercise each day until the honeymoon... we'll see about longer afterwards. So, daily, I'm going to report what I did... not to brag and not because you really care... but because then I am accountabe for exercising and it will make me get up off the couch and do something about my body!

A few weeks ago someone asked me how I got back into shape after having Calvin. I half laughed because I am at least 10 pounds heavier than I was pre-prego and nothing... I mean nothing is where it was before! However, I do realize that I have lost most of the weight (over 30 pounds) and I wear the same size clothes as I did pre-prego... even if I don't look as good in them. I am also aware that I am not obese by any means. But, I can use some cardio and lose a few pounds/inches and tone up some areas.
Anyway, so when this person asked what my secret was, I thought back to the first 2 weeks post baby... I ate nothing but Ranch Potato Chips and Coca Cola Zero. There... that's the secret to success! hehehe... then later, I did a lot of sit-ups and push-ups - push-ups are the key to get your boobs back where they belong! Anyway, I took it as a huge compliment that this person thought I looked so good... since I have serious issues with the shape of my post-baby body. Which brings up another point... how long am I allowed to use Calvin as an excuse for my body and lack of exercise??? ;-)

Too Cute Not To Post...

Calvin after his bath today.
He was in the mood to take pictures
and was full of adorable poses.

Chef Calvin

Calvin has been a very big help in the kitchen, lately. Monday night he helped make augratin (sp?) potatoes and shake and bake chicken. Last night he made green beans and beef stroganauff (sp?!?). Today, after school, he baked some fudge brownie cookies with M&M's. They are... in the words of Calvin, "Deeee-whicious!"
Here are some pics of the baker hard at work!

Riding In The Car With Calvin...

Driving with Calvin is always interesting. Today, this is our chit-chat in the car after daycare:

Mom: "Calvin, what did you do at school today?"

Calvin: "Fly in the space ship to the moon!"

Mom: "Really?!? Wow! That's exciting! Did your friends go to the moon with you?"

Calvin: "No. Just Chris. Chris fly to the moon with me! Chris jumed on the moon!"

Mom: "That sounds like fun. Did Chris have fun, too?"

Calvin: "I left him there!"

I didn't even tackle that... I just laughed. I guess I won't bother making dinner tonight since Chris skipped work today to fly to the moon! :-)

When we got to the circle drive in the parking lot, Calvin decided to play Red Light, Green Light. This game involves him yelling, "Red light!" and I stop until he says, "Green light." Needless to say what should have taken 45 seconds to drive took closer to 5 minutes! Usually our game is stopped short due to other traffic. No such luck today.

Calvin got his hair cut after school. We went to a different salon in Savoy. She was great! He looks very handsome. While we were at the salon, the beautician asked if he had a girlfriend. He proudly said, "Yes! Madison!" This is news to me! I will be investigating this Madison girl at school tomorrow. :-)

Local Meteorologist at Church

Sunday at chuch... Judy Fraser sat infront of us. Many of you probably recognize her from Channel 3 News out of Champaign, as the meteorologist. She is just as beautiful and regal in person as she appears on t.v. Oh, and I couldn't help but notice her HUGE diamond! Wowzers!

On March 15th, Chris and I leave for beautiful Puerto Rico on our delayed honeymoon!
Today as I look out over the snow covered parking lot and listen to the cold wind howl outside, I daydream about the warm beaches and strawberry daiquiries! I am sooo looking forward to this trip! New swimsuits to arrive this week! :-)

"Happy Meal! Happy Meal! Happy Meal!..." Calvin has been singing this self-created tune for several minutes now. Grrr... It's Tuesday, so no school. It snowed a bit last night so I know it's cold out there. I have a research paper, math homework, and a chemistry lab report to finish. I don't want to change out of my pj's. So, I do not want to go to McDonald's. I wish McDonald's delivered!!! :-)

Surprise on the floor

Several times a week Calvin gets out of his bed in the middle of the night, goes to the bathroom, then tries to get in bed with us. Unless it's almost time for Chris to get up for work, I take Calvin back to his bed, give him lots of hugs and kisses, and that's that. Last night there was a twist...

Like usual, Calvin got up and I put him back in his bed. A couple hours later, when it was almost time for Chris's alarm to go off, Chris sat up in bed, picked up something off the floor, and started to walk out of our room. It was Calvin. He was asleep on the floor next to Chris's side of the bed. I felt bad for Calvin because our heat drops to 60 degrees at night so he had to be cold on the floor!

How do you keep kids in their beds all night???

Sidewalks Cleared!

Today, the mini-snow plows cleared our sidewalks. I was so excited because Calvin and I are dying to get some fresh air and outside time. I'm ready to get the stroller out and do some much needed walking. I was excited until I watched the weather on t.v. - it's supposed to snow tonight! I guess we'll have to play in the snow tomorrow!

Christina's Best Dressed List

2008 Oscars Best Dressed: According to me. :-)
Does it makeanyone else sick to see Keri look so good after just having a baby?!?

Katherine Heigl is always a stunner - no surprise she looked fab at the Oscars!

Jessica Alba confirmed she's in her 3rd trimester. She looks great!

Quite possibly my favorite Oscar '08 dress - worn by Hillary Swank.

Can't help but love Heidi Klum in this striking red gown!

I just love Indiana Jones - so I always think he looks handsome. Oh... so does Calista!

Tiffany's 1st Day of Work

Tiffany called with a full report of her 1st day on the new job. So far... so good!
She is a banker for National City Bank in St. Louis. She previously worked for National City in Ohio. So, when she applied in STL, it wasn't long before they found out how great of an asset she was to the company and found her a position. Tomorrow she is off to meet with some law firms in high rise buildings to get their business... doesn't that sound so exciting?!?

I was so happy to hear how great her first day was. It was even exciting to hear how overwhelming it was at times - all new people, new city, new everything. Starting a new adventure in life can be scary at times - but those jittery feelings are so fun and exhilerating, too!

Medical Advice?

So, recently I've been having dizzy spells more than usual. I have low blood pressure so, from time to time I've gotten dizzy and even fainted - the Drs. have always said it was due to my blood pressure. But, it's happened more lately. I thought maybe it was the flu. But, I'm not so sure.
Then, last night it started with like a twitch in my neck, then my arm, and before I knew it I was nearly having a panic attack. I was able to ask Chris for some O.J. because for some reason that has always helped. I started to calm down and then BAM... I'm running to the bathroom to vomit. I felt crappy the rest of the night and was in bed by 8. I'm feeling much better this morning.
I'm really not sure what's going on with my body. And, as soon as either I figure out how to do the VA insurance thing or the admin guy at Chris's work gets his head out of his butt and gives Chris the insurance forms so Calvin and I can be covered - I will go to the Dr.
Going to the Dr... that just brings up another issue... I need a Dr. up here in Champaign. Calvin and I haven't applied for Drs up here, yet. I've met some local mom's online and will be meeting up with them soon. I will ask them who they recommend. Of course, I can't really apply for a Dr. until I find out how the insurance works and what Drs we can go to.
I've tried having extra salt in my diet when I have lots of dizzy spells. I always eat or drink something in the morning before I shower - other wise there's like a 50/50 chance I will faint. So, does anyone else have dizzy spells? Any recommendations to prevent them?

Tiffany's New Job

On Monday, Tiffany starts her new job in St. Louis!
I am so happy for her!
I know she is happy to start a new job in a new place.
Congratulations and Good-luck!

Tid Bits

*** Last night we went to Red Lobster - it's Lent and was Friday. I typically don't eat fish because I insist I don't like it. I ordered Flounder - and actually liked it! This is a big deal for me! Woo hoo! This however doesn't mean I don't have other food "allergies".

*** Chris and I went for a walk today - in the snow. Ended up with a little snow ball fight. I of course won because I always win. ;-) Anyway, we got back home and I realized I lost my phone on our walk. About 25 minutes later we found it buried in the snow. Luckily, it seemed to still work. I disassembled it and it is drying right now.

*** How do 2 year olds know what a happy meal is? Tom and Susan sent Calvin a McDonald's gift card for Valentine's Day - Thank-you - he loved it. For 2 days now, he has been asking for a Happy Meal. And, he knows they come from McDonald's. I guess I didn't realize that children his age caught onto things like that already. Well,he got his chicken Mcnugget happy meal today in Tuscola while we waited for his dad to get there. He even got to pay for it himself with the gift card. He was a very happy little boy. :-)

*** I'm working on a research paper about whether or not the movie Casablanca appeals to the average 22 year olds and if it is a timeless classic that young viewers will want to watch in the future. Can young people relate to the movie? Any thoughts?

Pythons in the U.S.

On they have an article from USA Today about pythons spreading in the U.S. I hate snakes, so I'm not sure why I even read the article, but I did. Here is an excerpt of the article regarding pythons,

"In Florida, they eat bobcats, deer, alligators, raccoons, cats, rats, rabbits, muskrats, possum, mice, ducks, egrets, herons and song birds. They grab with their mouth to anchor the prey, then coil around the animal and crush it to death before eating it whole."

So, this is my question to readers: Can a python really eat an alligator whole?!? Seriously... I'm having a hard time picturing this. I could be wrong. And, I am curious to know the truth.

Working all night long!

Okay, I love my sleep. I love it a lot - a whole lot. So, when I have dreams that feel like work, it plainly ticks me off! Last night I dreamt about Chemistry homework involving naming compounds and balancing equations. I felt like my heart was racing and my brain was hard at work all night as I tackled the tough questions! So, when I woke-up this morning I felt a little exhausted! I was angry that my night was wasted on chemistry homework that didn't even exist!!! I may take some Tylenol P.M. tonight to insure I get very rested sleep!

Does anyone else ever have those kinds of dreams?

Fantasy Racing League

Some of you know that I've always enjoyed Nascar. The past couples years I haven't watched so much - I blame parenthood! :-) hehehe! Anyway, last season I finished LAST in my league so they gave me a complimentary free team in this year's league. After the first race of the season I am in FIRST PLACE! Yay - Go me!
SHOUT OUT TO GREG - for doing an awesome job running the league!

Quote of the day:

"If you think things can't get worse it's probably only because you lack sufficient imagination."

A good night's sleep

Last night, on our new mattress, I got the best sleep since I can remember. Okay... maybe I need to correct that comment a little... I had the best quality sleep... but Calvin woke me up twice throughout the night... I don't even think he really needed anything. Anyway, the bed is amazing. :-)

Total Lunar Eclipse --- TONIGHT!

Tonight is the last total lunar eclipse until 2010. The radio announcer said we should be able to see it clearly between 9 and 9:30 p.m in central Illinois. Also, if you have a telescope, take advantage of seeing Saturn's rings tonight!

Day well spent shopping...

My mom came up to shop for the day. It was nice just the two of us... and Calvin looking at handbags, bedding, curtains, and anything else we wanted to. :-) No pressure - and no crowds at the stores. We enjoyed lunch at the Olive Garden - Thanks Mom!
At the end of the day I ended up w/ curtains for our curtain-less bedroom, Calvin's Easter outfit (yes, it's time for you to start thinking about Easter, already), and a new rug for Calvin's room (gotta love a clearance!).
Mom, also delivered the rest of my birthday present - a CHI hair straightener!!! Yeah - it's hot... really hot! She also got me a beautiful Coach handbag that I picked up last Friday night from Coach in Tuscola. I love my purse... just ask Chris!

Our Current Favorite Poem

There's a polar bear
In our Frigidaire—
He likes it 'cause it's cold in there.
With his seat in the meat
And his face in the fish
And his big hairy paws
In the buttery dish,
He's nibbling the noodles,
He's munching the rice,
He's slurping the soda,
He's licking the ice.
And he lets out a roar
If you open the door.
And it gives me a scare
To know he's in there—
That polary bear
In our Fridgitydaire.

-Shel Silverstein
This is one of Calvin's favorite poems to have read to him at bed time. I am a huge Shel Silverstein fan thanks to Mrs. Rhodes in 5th and 6th grade! So, for Christmas I got Calvin his first book of Shel Silverstein poems, "A Light In The Attic" so he could enjoy them as much as I do. So far, he thinks they are pretty funny. :-)

Mattress Shopping

I never knew mattress shopping was so rough. Yesterday, we spent the day finding a new mattress. You don't just have brands to compare, but also the kind of foam and the amount of layers of foams and other materials, oh and how many layers in the pillow top and is it memory foam or latex foam... Sooo many choices. It was a long day, but we found one. It will be delivered on Wednesday... I can't wait. I've been sleeping on the couch because my back has been hurting so bad from the bed!

Naked Cowboy...

It just hit me... Naked Cowboy's real name is Robert Burck...
Anyone think of our late friend, Bob???
Bob was one of the most outgoing people we knew... maybe it's all in the name. Maybe, if Bob lived in New York he'd have been a Naked Cowboy, too... that seems like his thing to do!
If you knew Bob, you probably have a story... a drunken one, a love one, a running from the cops one, a Murf one, or a best friend one. He was a best friend to anyone he met. And, we will miss him always.
Anyway, I just thought it was humorous that Naked Cowboy has such a similar name. :-)

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the students, teachers, victims, and family members of Northern Illinois University. This is truly a tragic misfortune. My heart breaks for those who lost loved ones in the horrific shooting.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to you!!!
I hope you are romanticized and loved by your significant other.
Us? Well, we have our own idea of romance.
We're having Papa John's.
I got Chris Family Guy: Blue Harvest.
So, we'll enjoy pizza and Star Wars from the couch tonight!
I love my husband very much... more than words could ever describe. I am very lucky to find such a wonderful man... one that thinks pizza and Star Wars is as romantic as I do.

Quote Of The Day

"Bye Poop! Love you Poop!" Calvin declared, as he flushed the toilet.

Naked Cowboy Suing

If you've ever been to NYC's Time Square,
you may have seen the popular tourist attraction:
Naked Cowboy.
I have not been to NYC... yet... someday I will... but, I have heard of the Naked Cowboy and give him kuddos for suing Mars Corporation for an M&M commercial where a blue M&M was dressed... or better yet 'not-dressed' like the famous Naked Cowboy. He wants $6M. Full Story:,2933,330549,00.html

I think all of the pictures (other than the ones Jeri has from late in the dance) are posted on winkflash, now.

Road Rage For Walkers?

Is it possibe to have walking rage... as in road rage when you are walking in crowds?
Okay, you're probably laughing right now... and that's ok.
So, what is the deal with tall people walking slowly? I mean, several of them are a foot taller than me - and legs higher than I could dream of... and yet, I'm passing them like I'm Tony Stewart passing Sam Hornish Jr. on the track! :-) Parkland seems to be a maze of stairs... and it is irritating to get behind one of these slow waddlers when I have just seconds to get to class. Oh... and don't get me started on the infamous text messagers as we are walking to our cars. People - it's cold outside! Don't hold up the line of people rushing to their cars to get out of the cold!
For now, I will just vent to fellow bloggers. :-)

Election Update

Courtesy of Fox News:

Trip to Barnes and Noble

Last night, Calvin and I made plans to trek out to Barnes and Noble this morning. And that is exactly what we did after we woke-up today! Calvin loved all of the books! There are so many to choose from and read! We spent an hour or so sitting in the Children's section reading books and finally decided on one to buy, Moo On The Farm. If you have a child that enjoys books, I highly encourage you to take him or her to Barnes and Noble. It's like a library... with new books... and Starbucks!

Everyone welcome Dina to the Blogspot!

Dina is the newest member to my blogspot...
she is my spiffy new laptop.
She arrived at our doorstep yesterday
and after a much needed OS reload
and Chris spending hours downloading drivers,
she is up and running!
She is much fancier than my last laptop...
She is a Dell XPS with a sleek back case
and a brushed silver interior.
She has lights and gadgets - like a fingerprint reader...
I like her a lot!
Incase you didn't know, my last laptop's LCD light went out for the monitor leaving it impossible for me to view anything on the screen. It was much too expensive to fix the monitor!

Happy happy happy birthday to me...

My birthday was super great. Chris ordered me a new laptop, brought me a bouquet of stargazing lillies (that made me sneeze), took me out for dinner, got me a gift certificate to get new swim suits for our honeymoon, and got me a card from Calvin with Dick Cheney and George Bush on it! After dinner Chris stopped by Culver's to get me a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Concrete Cake - - - YUMMY!

SHOUT OUT TO CHRIS... for not overlooking my birthday after a week of wedding stuff! I love you!

Weekend Update

My birthday weekend... wasn't so hot. I spent most of the time on the couch feeling crappy. Tom and Susan were even going to come up yesterday to celebrate my birthday, but I still wasn't feeling well and I had so much homework to catch up on. Chris and I spent over an hour trying to figure out a chemistry problem... just for me to find the exact formula in the instructions! Yeah - we felt stupid!
Tiffany called on Friday... SHE GOT A JOB with National City in St. Louis! WE ARE ALL soooo excited! She's hoping to start next week.
I understand some people are having problems ordering pictures from winkflash. I know little about this site but Chris said it is possible to order pictures and he figured it out for Susan.
Now, it's Monday... back to real life... back to school... and back to our regular routine. On that note... it's time to take Calvin to school. Have a fabulous week!

I'm saved!

Some women would freak over their washer, dryer, or stove going out. For me, it's my laptop. I could do without the others for a couple weeks at least! But, my laptop is the sugar on my Cheerios - needed! I have the very best husband... he acknowledged my sadness over the broken laptop and ordered me a new one last night for my birthday. It is super fabulous! I can't wait to get it next week.
Also, just got off the phone with him... he's running birthday errands... hmmm...

Update on wedding pics

Apparently, some of the wedding pictures taken later at church did not get uploaded to winkflash. This includes the Ordner family picture and the outside pics of me and Chris. Bear with me. My laptop is on the fritz and that's where I saved the pics. I'm using Chris's computer and get a bit flustered with it. Tomorrow is my birthday... I'm hoping to get a new laptop! I am both lost and sad about my long-time, loyal laptop that I trusted for so many things - like blogging, editting pictures, email, Myspace, and homework. The LCD light thingy is out - that's what the Geek Squad at Best Buy told me today... The bad news is that it's over $500 to replace - so I will probably get a new one. The good news is that it's just the display - all of the data and pictures are fine and can be copied to my future new laptop.
So, if I don't email or post for a couple days, now you know why.
Also, if you are trying to call me... I'm probably not answering. Chris and I are enjoying our first few days of married life and I really don't want to be bothered too much. I know that sounds selfish, but I just want to be able to relax alone for a few more days. I promise that soon I'll be ready to listen to all of your problems and save the world again!
One more thing... if you didn't vote yesterday, you should feel very guilty. You know who you are. No excuses count. :-)

Wedding Pictures

Most of the wedding pics have been posted to: Jeri still has close to 200 pictures from late in the dance to send to me. But, otherwise they are on the site. More wedding talk soon... after we get all of our stuff put away and settled... and VOTE tomorrow! Okay... just realized it's after midnight... so we're voting TODAY!

The Wedding

Wedding posts coming soon!
I had several "blogger moments" throughout the day and will share them with you soon.
The wedding was beautiful - if you were there - you know it was so perfect.
