"John McCain is the most qualified candidate to be the next commander in chief of the United States," "He's an American hero." quotes by Rudy Giuliani

Wedding Week

As if you didn't know already, Chris and I are getting married on Saturday!!! I can't believe the wedding is almost here! It really didn't hit me until I was leaving school today and thought, "Wow... this is it... I leave for home tomorrow..." Tying up loose ends at school was one of the last milestones before leaving for the wedding. So, it's really almost here. Really!
So, this evening I have some packing to do since we won't be home until Sunday and I have to remember everything I might need for decorating, rehearsal, wedding, and the day after. We have already taken most of the stuff to our parent's houses - so we don't have too much wedding stuff to bring. My dress will be ready at the cleaners on Friday - nicely pressed. Then, it can be dropped off at the church.
For all of you involved that might need to know the agenda:
Thursday afternoon: We arrive in town
Thursday 4:00 pm: My hair appointment
Thursday 6:00 pm: Chris is meeting Denise, Marilyn, Elaine, and Diane who are getting the pillars and they (and whoever else wants to help) are headed to Stone's Throw to start decorating.
Thursday evening: After hair appt - I will be on my way to Stone's Throw.
Thursday evening: Amy and Jackson are arriving.
Thursday evening: DECORATING!
Friday: Finish decorating if need be
Friday: Alicia, Cole, Elizabeth, and Bill arrive
Friday 4:00 pm: Me and Tiffany have mani and pedis.
Friday 6:00 pm: Rehearsal at church followed by dinner
Saturday: Girls - hair appointments - I will let you know Friday what time.
Saturday 11:30: Pictures start at church
Saturday 1:00: Wedding
Saturday afternoon: Pictures following Wedding
Saturday 4:30 pm: Wedding party arrives at reception
Rest of day: Reception
Sunday 12:30 pm: Gift opening at Dad and Denise's.

Baby on board for the Jolie-Pitt's?

The rumor is: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh will be getting a baby brother or sister or both! Pregnancy rumors started spreading when Angelina showed up to the SAG awards in a flowing Hermes gown. Some spectators say there was even a little baby bump. STAR magazine first reported the pregnancy on January 24th - they claim they have confirmation that Angelina is pregnant with twins!!! However, Brad and Angelina's reps refuse to comment on the speculations.

$$$

Tony Rezko is linked to both Senator Obama and Gov. Blagojevich through excessive campaign donations that could be violations of federal election law. Rezko is believed to have received 3.5 million dollars from a Lebanon company after claiming he didn't have any income. Could this be the new Illinois political corruption that will make the history books???
Sen. Obama has stated that his campaign returned any money associated with Rezko. $85,000 has been returned. But, what about the $100,000 in donations from Rezko's business associates, and the $19,500 from Rezko's wife and other employees of Rezko???
Rezko is scheduled to start trial on February 25th on charges of scheming to pressure companies seeking state business for kickbacks and campaign contributions.

Bachelorette Party

Last night was my big, last night out... my bachelorette party! Big shout out to Tiffany and Dawn for all of their hard work to make it so much fun! I learned that they have hidden talents for making penis & booby cookies, penis, boob, and underwear shaped paper cut-outs, and finding kinky toys! I got some fabulous gifts and lingerie from some of the other girls, too! I had a great time! I think Chris had a good time at his bachelor party... even though when I ran into him at Daddy Rabbit's at 9 something he looked like he had been hit by a car and smelled like vomit. By 10:15 someone got him a cab home because he was way too drunk! He doesn't remember seeing me and discovered he had puke on his shoes this morning - yuck!
Next Saturday is the BIG day! Can't wait!

Wedding Programs

Yesterday afternoon, Susan (Chris's mom) came up to help with wedding programs. When Chris and I came up with the design, we never dreamt they would take so long to design, layout, print, cut, and assemble. Susan came up to save us yesterday. She put in over 4 hours of hard work to get us sooo very close to being finished. We are so thankful for Susan's help!

Church Stuff

Moving to a new town = finding a new church.
We picked St. Matthew's Parish. Nice perk is that it has a private Catholic school with fabulous ratings.
So, Saturday night we went to church. We were running a little late. We got there during the opening hymn so I don't consider that too late. Church was packed so we opted for the "cry room". We don't normally sit in this special room for children because we insist that Calvin be on his very best behavior at Jesus's house. He even believes that Jesus has time-out. My theory is that if he doesn't grow-up knowing how to behave in church he won't behave in church as he gets older. In the cry room I couldn't focus on mass. I can't even tell you what the Readings or Gospel were about because I was so distracted with children that were allowed to crawl around the room playing. So, I left church with a sense of guilt because it was like I didn't go to church at all.
My question: What is the purpose of the cry room if you don't get something out of the mass?
Why go at all if you aren't going to pay attention?
God knows the truth.

Marble Slab Creamery

ICE CREAM!
At approximately 8:45 tonight I had a craving for ice cream.
We got our shoes and coats on and headed out.
As we got in the car, the radio announcer said,
"It's too cold outside. Stay in!"
Too late. We're already in the car.
Marble Slab is like 2 minutes from our house.
It is super fantabulous and if you've never had it...
you need to experience it!
We love it!
Calvin had strawberry ice cream with M&M's.
Chris had cheesecake ice cream with strawberries.
I had a Willy Wonka with Oreos instead of choc. chips.
Marble Slab was recently featured on Oprah...
So you know it's yummy!

Parkland

So, I started a new school this semester. It's a lot different from the last college I attended where most of the students were from farms or farm towns. Let's just say Parkland is a lot more interesting as far as people go.
Things to note... I will probably follow-up on these notes later.
1.) Algebra - it's at 10:00 a.m. - and still each day there are at least 3 people late. It's 10 O'Clock, people! One guy has been late every day so far... at least 15 minutes late each day and even comes back late from break. Since our professor is super particular about the littlest details, I'm just waiting for the day that kid's not allowed back into the class!
2.) Chemistry girl: she wasn't in class on Monday. She was there on Wednesday... came in late and I kid you not as she walked across the room to her desk, a strong odor followed her. After looking further I discovered that her hair was super greasy and the root of the smell. Thursday, the smell was worse. Today, was lab day. She still had major hair odor. She came to my lab table. I quickly moved to another table because the smell was strong enough to make me gag. I don't think this is a case of she can't wash her hair... from the clothes she wears, I think this is a look she's going for. In her defense, maybe she doesn't have friends... so nobody to tell her that her hair is stinky. No class on Monday or Tuesday next week... I hope she washes it by Wednesday!
3.) Mysterious English guy. There is this guy in my English class that has a retro/rocker look - clean cut, w/ medium length hair that is styled to swoop across his forehead. He looks like a cross between a The Killers and My Chemical Romance. He is quiet and reserved and looks very intelligent He is one of those people that is truly beautiful and I can't help but to stare at him. I want to be his friend.
4.) General note: Parkland stunk like B.O. today. It wasn't the cold B.O. smell like you'd expect in January. It is the really hot and sweaty B.O. smell. Yuck! Mom suggested it might be me since the smell seemed to be following me... I checked - I smell like Dove Powder deoderant!
5.) Good note - I ran into Laura today! It was nice to see a familiar face!!! I love T-Towners!

The Easy Button

I remember seeing Angie H's Easy button her desk and wondering, "Is Staples that easy?" I learned Tuesday night that YES Staples is that easy! I live in a college town, now. Monday was the first day of the semester so by Tuesday night the school supply shelves at Wal-Mart were bare. I headed to Staples. They had EVERYTHING I needed and so much more. Thank-you Staples for having the binder my anal Algebra teacher insists I have and having all of my other school supply needs.

Trip to the Moon

"Chris, fly to moon with me?"

"Chris, jump on moon with me?"

Chris, "How will we get to the moon?"
Calvin, "Spaceship!"
Mom, "Can I go to the moon, too"
Calvin, "No. Just Chris."

Calvin

* Calvin started his new daycare, "school" on Monday. 1st day - cried a little. 2nd day - cried most of the day. 3rd day - cried at first then became everyone's best friend. When I got there to pick him up he was coloring with his new friends. Grandma called this morning to tell him that if he didn't cry she'd take him shopping! Lucky boy!

*You see a new pillow above. That's Calvin's pillow for school. He really likes it!

*He's starting to get excited about the wedding because we told him he gets to dance. He insists that he's dancing w/ Dae-Dae. That will be a Kodak moment. :-)

*He is pretty much potty trained. We're so happy! He's so proud of himself!

*His favorite word right now is, "Annoying". Yes, I am annoying. Chris is annoying. The T.V. is annoying. And... his poop is annoying.

*Instead of waking me up in the morning he quietly crawls in bed with me and goes back to sleep!

*He is all about pb&j, cheese hotdogs, and the chocolate chip pancakes he helped make. Oh - and thanks to Grandpa, he only wants to drink Chocolate Milk... from his "coffee cup" that Tiffany got him.

It's amazing how fast he is growing up and all of these little moments mean so much.

Good Election Site

Must site for election junkies like me!
POLLSTER

Brett Favre's Wife

Okay... I got this in an email today. Found a little humor in it so I thought I'd pass it onto my readers. I'm not sure when this was written because Hillary Clinton is a Senator so... Anyway, it's interesting.

In a news conference Deanna Favre announced she will be the starting QB for the Packers this coming Sunday. Deanna asserts that she is qualified to be starting QB because she has spent the past 16 years married to Brett while he played QB for the Packers. During this period of time she became familiar with the definition of a corner blitz, and is now completely comfortable with other terminology of the Packers offense. A survey of Packers fans shows that 50% of those polled supported the move. Does this sounds idiotic and unbelievable to you? Well, Hillary Clinton makes the same claims as to why she is qualified to be President and 50% of democrats polled agreed. She has never run a City, County, State, company or corporation. She has never been a CEO or led anything larger than an office. She's had a "staff" when she was first lady and first lady of Arkansas. When told Hillary Clinton has experience because she has 8 years in the white house, Dick Morris stated "so has the pastry chef".

1st Day Of School

Today was the first day of school for Calvin and myself. We got through it... with a few tears. Overall, I think Calvin had a pretty good first day. Me? Algebra professor is a control freak, turns out my English class is a research paper class, and it looks like Chemistry is my best class of the semester.

We hit the bars in T-Town

When Amy came to town last weekend, us girls went out
for some drinks. Yummm... :-)
From left to right: Dawn, Me, Amy, Tiffany.
Amy is from PA... so she had never been to T-Town.
She thought it was pretty cool that there are 4 bars
within 200 yards of each other!

Cheaters... the T.V. Show

Saturday night we were up late with little to watch because SNL was a repeat. Anyway, flipping through the channels we came across Cheaters. It was so "can't catch my breath because I'm laughing too hard" funny! The pic is of the Cheater's host Joey Greco - and the show is in fact as corny as he looks. It involves suspecting spouses having P.I.'s follow their man/woman and catch them cheating. Then, the suspecting spouse gets to confront the two of them in a public place like a restaurant or bar. Of course this leads to name calling, hair pulling drama that you'd see on Jerry Springer. If you're Jerry Springer fan then this is a show for YOU! :-)

Doggie Ice Cream

I couldn't believe my eyes when I was in Schnuck's on Friday!
Dog lovers everywhere can now feed their dogs
ice cream sandwiches!

C'Mon People... Get Your Facts Straight

It's 2008... BIG election year. And, with elections and politics in general comes lies. So, I decided to do a little research. Keep in mind that I am a Republican and that I am a huge John McCain supporter. But, this is America... Home Of The Free! We have rights... one being to VOTE! So, I'd rather someone vote for a candidate that they choose because of his or her stances on specific issues than to have an ignorant vote. And some of the lies being spread throughout this election are ridiculous. But, that's politics I guess! Enough said about that.
Today's topic: An anonymous e-mail says
Barack Obama belongs to a racist, anti-American church.
TRUTH: According to http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2008/jan/11/attack-e-mail-slams-obama-religion-race/,
• Yes, Obama belongs to Trinity United Church of Christ, which is considered among the larger black megachurches in the United States. The presidential race has kept him away from the church recently, but he typically attends when he’s in Chicago, according to his campaign.
• Yes, Trinity preaches a Bible-based message of black self-reliance. Its motto is “Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian.” And, the church does have a “non-negotiable commitment to Africa.”
• No, you do not have to be black to join Trinity. The church, which has been overwhelmed with media inquiries, said in a statement that it welcomes people of all races and has white members.
• No, Obama is not Muslim. He is a Christian.
• No, Obama’s middle name is not Mohammed. He is named Barack Hussein Obama after his father, a Kenyan who came to the United States from Africa as a student.

By no means am I saying that I am an Obama fan... just keeping the stories straight so you can make an educated vote - without lies. Keep watching the blog. I will be posting more truths in the upcomming election months. :-)

Things got shaken up in New Hampshire!

John McCain made a comeback in New Hampshire!
Mitt Romney finished a solid 2nd place ahead of
Mike Huckabee in the NH Republican Primary.
In other news... Hillary Clinton used her
"fake it until you make it" approach
to convince +/-39% of the NH Democrat voters
that she's the candidate they want for President.

Amy came to town...

During my Air Force enlistment, I met many wonderful people... but none of them as special as Amy and her son Jackson. We met at RAF Mildenhall, U.K. while we were assigned to the same squadron. At the time, Jackson was 2 and full of energy. I got to watch him twice a week while Amy took night classes. During that time, Jax and I played Batman hide-and-seek in the BX, made visits to the fire station to play on the fire trucks, go out for our regular Thursday night steak and cheese stick dinner at the Golf Course, and do other super fun things! He was the coolest kid ever. And everyone on base knew him! On the weekends, Amy and I would go to our favorite bar: The Rod And Gun! We were some two-steppin', line dancin' cowgirls! We had so much fun! So many memories! A month before I PCS'd from Mildenhall to McChord AB, Amy, Jackson, and I took a trip to Paris. It is a trip that I will never forget. We had so much fun at Euro Disney, walking the streets of Paris, and meeting those French Sailors!
Our friendship blossomed into something bigger and better... we are like family, now. Amy and Jackson have given me so much. Without them, I wouldn't be the same person. They both have taught me so much about patience and love. Amy also taught me that toilet paper always goes over not under. Why? Because when you have guests over you want to be able to fold the last square into a nice point. Over time, this tid bit of advice has turned into a pet peave of mine. I will change your roll of toilet paper if it is under not over! Anyway, I am very grateful for Amy and Jackson. They have touched my life in a way that I never knew was possible. I am very excited to see Jackson at the wedding. He will be the super cute 9 year old probably completely pimped out in a suit or tux, with an umbrella in his drink, and a sweet pick-up line for you!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!

The Wedding Shower

The wedding shower was beautiful. The bridesmaids, usherettes, and our moms did a fantastic job putting it on. Pics coming soon!

Iowa Caucus

All of the newscasts are reporting that the results from the Iowa Caucus are extremely surprising - and making history. Mike Huckabee followed by Mitt Romney for the Republicans and Barack Obama followed by John Edwards for the Democrats. Little disappointed that John McCain's campaign is falling behind. However, I'm excited that Hillary finished 3rd! hehehe...
So, Rebekah - you once said if you HAD to vote Republican (She's a democrat - I'm Republican)... you might pick Mitt Romney because he's the best looking... but have you seen his sons??? Josh Romney was standing behind him in the post-caucus speech - cutie! Matt and Tagg are super studly, too! And, Craig Romney looks like he likes to party - but has crazy eyes! Not that this will in any way change who we vote for... but it does make the campaign a little hotter!

Hilary Clinton For President? Not With My Vote!

"Hillary Clinton said that her childhood dream was to be an Olympic athlete. But she was not athletic enough. She said she wanted to be an astronaut, but at the time they didn't take women. She said she wanted to go into medicine, but hospitals made her woozy. Should she be telling people this story? I mean she's basically saying she wants to be president because she can't do anything else."- Jay Leno

Thank-you Amy for the quote! Go John McCain!

One Month To Go!

Incase you didn't realize... 1 month until the BIG DAY!
