VMDV Snippet: Unending rollercoaster.

VMDV (very merry Disney vacation)

Chris and I shared the task of driving to and from Florida.
I was driving through Tennessee.
I was in the foot hills.
I didn't think much of it....
til the speed limit dropped to like 30mph on the interstate when we reached the Smokey Mountains!
It was dark.
I hate driving in the dark.
The hills were steep, steep, steep!
The curves were winding!
I was freaked out to say the least.
It gets worse.
So, I'm going down a big hill.
Really big!
There are semi's infront and behind me.
They don't like to brake on the big hills.
They probably cussed me out.
I wanted to creep down the hill at like 20mph.
They don't slow down on big hills.
They flew by me on the way down...
swerving to get around me.
I'd fly by them on the way up.
Repeat at least 4 times.
Chris was holding on for dear life.
I couldn't pull over.
I remember going down a very steep hill...
where I couldn't see the bottom...
only darkness.
It was like an unending rollercoaster!
10 and 2.  10 and 2.
I looked like a grandma driving.
So, I want to apologize to the truckers.
I really am sorry.
I probably put all of our lives in danger.
Uncle Kevin, if you were one of those semi drivers, I hope you can forgive me.

Moral of the story:  Let your husband drive while you sleep.  :-)

Needless to say, on the way home from Florida, Chris drove through the mountains.

Homebound

We just hit the Florida/Georgia border.  We're on our way home.  :-(  Vacations never really last long enough!  Our trip was WONDERFUL!

The drive to Florida was long, but Calvin was very, very, very good.  That definitely helped!  We stopped around 3:30 a.m. at the Florida Welcome Center rest area to sleep a few hours.  I'll admit that I slept most of the time between Atlanta and the Florida state line.

Before I begin to tell you about our Disney adventures, I gotta tell you all that Calvin is the perpetual worrier.  Seriously.  He's 3.  He worries like crazy over silly things.  He's deathly afraid of losing me or Chris and will cry if he can't see us.  He is so concerned that often his reactions to new and exciting things seems very mild.  He doesn't get excited about much when he's around large groups of people.  He can be very reserved.  So, when I post the pictures on here (later - give me a few days) you will notice some concerned expressions.  I often wish he could let loose and enjoy life in the moment.  I guess I should set a better example for him.

On with the adventurous stories

After checking in at our resort, we took a quick nap and headed to Disney World's Magic Kingdom.  We arrived there at night and took the ferry ride to the main gate.  The ferry ride across the lake with Cinderella's Castle up ahead got us in the Disney spirit.  The castle was lit up with thousands of white Christmas lights.  It was beautiful!  We got there in time to ride the big carousel and Dumbo's flight.  Then, the awesome parade.

On Christmas Eve we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom.  If you've been on the safari there, you know what I'm talking about when I say it was AMAZING!  It was soooo cool!  It really looked like Africa and the animals were free to come close to the jeep thingy.  We had to take a detour because there were 2 rhinos blocking the road!  The Tree of Life was waaaayyyy cool, too!  We also got to meet Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore!

After leaving Animal Kingdom we headed to Downtown Disney for some much needed souvenior shopping and dinner at Planet Hollywood.  Chris and Calvin really liked the life-like Lego displays.  I have to admit they were pretty cool!!!

Christmas morning we awoke to a table full of presents from Santa underneath our stockings hanging from the dining room light fixture!  Calvin loved all of his presents, especially his "buckn' bad" dinosaurs and his new shotgun (fake).  Yes, I said shotgun.  I have always been against him having play guns at our house.  But, then I realized he's a boy, loves to pretend to hunt everything, enjoys time at anyone else's house because they have guns for him to play with, AND we are Republican... so we do promote guns!  ;-)  heheheee.  Anyway, Calvin spent much of Christmas morning hunting his dino's with his new gun!  I really enjoyed watching him play with his gifts.  Then, Chris gave me a card.  Okay, let me back up a second:  Chris and I decided not to get each other anything for Christmas since we were going on this trip.  Even last week we agreed that we weren't going to be that couple that says they aren't going to buy anything but then do.  So, on Christmas morning when he presented me with this card... well, I felt really guilty for not getting him anything.  He got me the most beautiful card that said all of the right things.  And if that wasn't enough, he got me a $50 gift card.  :-)  He's such a sweetie!

After Christmas morning mass, we ate breakfast at IHOP.  It was delicious!!!  Mmmmm... good!  :-)  Afterwards we headed to Disney's Magic Kingdom.  We enjoyed it all, including a magical Disney presentation at Cinderella's castle, a very cool Christmas parade, and visiting with:  Cinderella, Snow White, Mickey, and Minnie.  The biggest disappointment was that we waited in a llllloooooonnnnnggggg line to see the Disney Princess's because Calvin is in love with Sleeping Beauty.  She stood Calvin up and was a no show.... ugh.... heartache.  :-(

We had Christmas dinner at a Japanese Steakhouse.  It was pretty good.  The experience and having the chef make your food in an entertaining way right at your table is what makes it so cool!  Calvin really enjoyed his onion soup... which I was surprised by.  After dinner we went for a swim at our resort's pool.  Yeah, I said SWIMMING!  :-)  I was thinking of our family freezing back home in Illinois... the water was sooo warm... ;-)  Chris pretended to be a shark and chased us around the pool.  I hadn't laughed so hard in a very long time.

Our final day at Disney we went to Disney's Hollywood Studios.  We weren't sure how much we'd like it, but we REALLY did!  Calvin met Woody and Buzz Lightyear!  Then, during the Block Party Parade, Little Bo Peep hugged and played with Calvin and even took Calvin's new Woody doll to show the REAL Woody.  After the party got started, Woody himself came over to Calvin and danced with him!!!  :-)  It was soooo cool!  We also watched a very cool Indiana Jones stunt show that was like being on the set of a movie in the making.  So much action, fight scenes, and explosions!  It was AWESOME!  :-)  After Hollywood Studios and dinner at Macaroni Grill we went swimming one last time.

Today we went to Cape Canaveral's Cocoa Beach.  The waves were impressive.  The weather was perfect.  The water was a bit chilly.  But, that didn't stop my darling husband from getting in.  He tried to get Calvin further out there, but Calvin seemed overwhelmed and worrisome.  Later he told me that he was afraid the waves were going to get me and that scared him.  Awww.... how sweet, right?

Overall our trip was FANTASTIC!  We missed family over Christmas, but I still think this was the best thing for us this year.  Christmas would have been very hard for me this year without my Dad.  But, I doubt we ever vacation over Christmas again - especially to Disney!  It was extremely busy!  We definitely want to go back some day, just during a slower season.

I'll have pictures ready to post in the next couple days and then I'll post a link for where I post all of our Disney pix.

We are on our way

This update post is really for me to document our trip for myself.  Because I know afterwards I won't remember this stuff as clearly.

Our trip started out like this:
Chris:  Where is the cigarette lighter splitter for the car?
Me:  I dunno.  You had it.
We couldn't find it anywhere.  Looked everywhere including the refrigerator!  Just when we were about to give-up, Chris sees it sitting on the entertainment center.  Seriously, wth?!?  How did it get there?!?

So, we think we'll be on our way.

Then, I can't find my sunglasses.  So, I turn off the car to use the keys to get back in the house to look for them.  Got Chris's car keys to look in his car.  Nowhere.  Ugh.  So, I go back in the house to dig through my desk to find an old pair.  Done.  I locked up the house.  Back to the car.  They were in my purse the whole time.

Chris:  I don't have my sunglasses.
So, I turned the car off again for him to go back in the house for his keys to get into his car to get his sunglasses.  K.  Done.

Chris was stressed from a stressful morning dealing with the landlord and our issue with our stinky house.  So, the lost and found scenerio didn't help his blood pressure.  To cure the stress, he grabbed a beer for the road!  Yup, that's my husband.  I gotta admit that by the time I got us on the interstate and he got his beer open he was much calmer.  :-)  That is until his computer started acting up.  That's when I wished he would have grabbed a 6 pack!

Right now we're under 100 miles from Nashville.  Calvin has been an Angel so far.  Really.  He has only asked, "Are we there yet?" twice and really that's not bad.  :-)  He sat quietly in his car seat then took a nap.  Now, he is watching Open Season with headphones on.  I'm on the Internet.  Chris is driving and jamming to his music.  :-)

That's our trip thus far.  :-)  From weather.com, it looks like there's freezing rain back home.  Sorry guys!  We'll try to bring some sunshine back with us!

Disney World, Here We Come!!!

Soon, we will be on our way to Florida.  :-)  YAY!  I cannot wait to meet Mickey!!!  I cannot wait for Calvin to tell Goofy hi from Goofy's cousin, Uncle Matt!  heheheee  :-)  I just can't wait to get there!

Since I will have Internet for most of the ride, there might be a couple posts.  But, if you don't hear from me this week, it's because we are at DISNEY WORLD!!!  :-)

I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas filled with lots of loving family and many smiles.

The Special Delivery From Santa

Santa and his Reindeer did just as Santa said they would in the letter. They flew down here with the help from Rudolphy's glowing red nose. Santa snuck into our house and left a great big box under the tree with another letter on top.
It read (in a much better font and pictures of Disney Characters throughout the letter):
Dear Calvin,
For Christmas this year, my gift to you is extremely special. My gift to you and your family is a trip to Florida where you will meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, and maybe… just maybe, Sleeping Beauty. You will even get to see Cinderella’s Castle!!! Have you figured it out, yet?

You are going to Walt Disney World!!!

In this box you will find tickets to the Walt Disney theme parks as well as maps of the parks for you to start planning your trip. But, you don’t have long to plan! You leave on Monday!!! Just two days away!!! You, your mom, and dad will drive through many states and arrive at your resort on Tuesday. After a short nap and a bite to eat, you will be off to Disney World!

Remember that I will be watching you while you are on your journey to Florida. So be extra good for your parents in the car and maybe I will find you in Florida while you are sleeping on Christmas Eve to deliver even more presents! So don’t forget to take your stockings!!!

Enjoy your trip to Disney World. Tell my good buddy, Mickey hello for me, please. Be a good little boy for your mom and dad and have lots of fun!!!

Ho-ho-ho,
Santa Claus
p.s. Please leave out cookies and Reindeer snacks on Christmas Eve for me and my Reindeer!

Santa Wrote Calvin A Letter

I am 26 and have never received a letter from the big guy in the red suit. So, yesterday I was very shocked and SURPRISED when there was a letter addressed to Calvin from Santa.
It read:

Dear Calvin,
I’ve been checking in on you a lot this year and have been very pleased to find you being a very good boy. In fact, your mommy and daddy have been good, too. You have all made it to my Nice List!

After a lot of thought, I have decided on the perfect present for you and your family this year. My Reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and of course Rudolph, and I will be making a special trip from the North Pole to your house late at night when you are fast asleep on Friday, December 19th 2008. You will find a gift from me underneath your tree when you awake on Saturday, December 20th. I am positive you will love what I have in store for you and your family.

Ho-ho-ho,
Santa Claus

p.s. If you don’t mind, can you leave me some cookies and milk; also, a snack for the Reindeer. We get mighty hungry on our long trip from the North Pole.

---***---***
We've never seen Calvin's eyes get so big! He was sooo excited and took his letter everywhere yesterday to show everyone!

Happy 48th Birthday, Dad

48 years ago today, my dad was born. 6 months ago tomorrow he died. I have so many thoughts and emotions running through me that I can barely think of anything to post.

Dad,
I hope you are celebrating your birthday with Grandpa Joe, Grandma Velear, and Lisa. I'm sure Lisa made you a scrumptious cake! I miss you so much. We all do. Calvin wants to have cake and a party for you. He really doesn't understand it all. But, to compromise with him, I'm letting him take a birthday balloon to the cemetary for you. I hope it makes you smile.

If you can find some time on your birthday, I know there are a lot of people struggling with your loss today. If you could give us some Angel hugs, we would really appreciate it.

Love,
Christina

Mama Kat's Weekly Writing Assignment: Christmas Traditions

It's time for Mama Kat's Weekly Writing Assignment.
The Prompts:

1.) Write or share a letter to Santa.
2.) Describe a faovrite Winter memory.
3.) Last night it snowed buckets and you are forced to spend the entire day at home with your family...what's the plan!?!
4.) What's the best gift you've ever gotten/given.
5.) Describe a Christmas tradition that you have started with your own family?

First, I wrote a letter to Santa... it was cute and a little funny. Then, I realized that I'm just kidding myself. I am sure to be on Santa's Naughty List this year. ;-) And really, it has its rewards, if you know what I mean. ;-) teehee*

So, I decided to write about Christmas traditions.

Christmas really is the time of year where there are many traditions that get passed down from generation to generations. It's a warm, cozy time of year where you have traditions you can rely on and that is as comforting as a big hug.

For me, Christmas cinnamon rolls are a tradition that I cherish. For as long as I can remember my mom has made her secret recipe homemade cinnamon rolls that we ate after opening gifts from Santa on Christmas Eve morning (yes, Christmas Eve. My parents were divorced - this is how it worked). This tradition started when it was just me and my mom and she'd invite my Grandpa Joe and Grandma Veleara over to watch me open my gifts when I was just a little girl. Then, came my brothers and they grew up knowing the tradition of mouthwatering cinnamon rolls Christmas Eve morning. Years have come and gone but we always knew we'd have those cinnamon rolls. The last few years Christmas has been different at my mom's house. Well, for starters it's no longer at her house. She is in love with a wonderful man and moved in together a few years ago. He has children of his own from a previous marriage that range in age from 13-27. So, Christmas eve has gone from our usual four-some of Mom, me, Jake, and Phillip to a larger, less personable group of people. It doesn't feel like it did before mostly because there is like a line drawn in the room Christmas Eve between "his" family and "our" family that now includes Chris, Calvin, my nephew Cooper and the dates Jake and Phil bring. Each side of the line has its own traditions and ways of doing things and really... none of us want to compromise. But, we have accepted it and are happy that Mom has someone to share her life with. But, with all of this change, Mom had still made her classic cinnamon rolls, and that really meant the world to me and my brothers.

Last year was the very first time my mom didn't make her famous cinnamon rolls. It broke my heart. I understood that she didn't have the time. But, I felt like she didn't realize the importance of these cinnamon rolls. It was "our" Christmas. The way "we" did things. And that was not something my brothers and I wanted to give-up. We weren't trying to be mean to Mom about it, but it was obvious that we were disappointed. We each would have given up our gifts to have cinnamon rolls instead. This year I asked Mom to make me her special cinnamon rolls for me to take with us to Florida. She fully planned on making them. Yesterday she called to tell me that she just wouldn't have the time to make them because of her hechtic work schedule. I understood. And, I realize that again this year there will be no cinnamon rolls to represent our family's Christmas tradition.

So, it got me thinking... I cannot expect Mom to make the cinnamon rolls. She has a busy schedule. And I can't gripe about something that I'm not willing to change. So, by next year I will learn how to make them. So, my brothers and our families will have sweet, savory cinnamon rolls to enjoy on Christmas Eve morning next year and I will see to it that our tradition does not stop now that we have joined another family for Christmas.

*** --- *** ---

Our basement flooded this year. Like 3' of standing water. Yeah, it was pretty bad. It ruined our artificial Christmas tree. We planned to get a replacement, but they are so pricey... especially the ones we really liked. Since Calvin's grandparents on his father's side have a tree farm, we decided to head out there to get a real tree. Although Calvin is only 3, he spends many hours at the tree farm helping his dad and grandparents saw, shake, and sell the trees. He takes pride in his hard work and tells us great big tall tales of his tree farm escapades. So, he was pretty excited to get a tree from his tree farm.

The three of us with some expert advice from Calvin's Grandpa Ron picked out a gorgeous tree. Really, beautiful! We love it! And, we loved the whole process of picking one out and taking it home. It was so festive and made it feel like Christmas. I think this year is the first year of a new tradition of heading out to the Althoff Tree Farm for our real Christmas trees.

Finals Week

This is finals week.
Ugh.
Looking on the bright side... I was starting to get bored/uninterested in a couple classes. After this week there will be a break (no idea when Spring semester starts even though I already registered) then I will have all new classes.

#1 class I will miss is my Programming Logic course that I dreaded so much at the beginning. I love it now! I get so excited writing simple little programs. I know... I'm a dork. I've even been accused of being a "closet programmer". Hehehee... that sounds so nerdy!!!

I was gonna take a programming language course next semester but they are all at like 8:00 a.m. (which I couldn't do bc I don't like people before 9) or they are on Tuesdays and Thursdays when I'm not driving up there. I know... I could totally sacrifice time and daycare money to be up there. But I know myself. If I only had 1 class to drive up there for, I'd skip too often.

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to say farewell for a few days. I have to focus on studying for my final exams... gotta get those A's! I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and getting ready for Santa's big arrival next week!

Santa Was At My House!

Yesterday when I got home from school there was a gift bag at our doorstep with an adorable red sweater in it for Calvin. There was no card.

Either Santa made a special trip or someone thinks Calvin is pretty special and deserved a sweater. This is the 2nd Secret Santa Surprise in our family this week. Earlier this week, my nephew Caleb received a red sweater in a gift bag at his doorstep, too. It goes to show that our boys were extra good this year!!! They made it to the Nice List! I hope I did, too!

Thank-you very much from Calvin to whoever left the gift for him. He is very appreciative!

Sleep In Therapy???

I didn't sleep well last night. Got less than 4 hours of sleep. If you're a new reader, let me fill you in on something... I LOVE SLEEP! I tossed and turned last night as my stupid brain would not stop thinking about sooo much stuff. I have a lot on my mind. It's the holiday season and it's so tough to get through without my dad. Next Friday is would have been his 48th birthday. Today would have been Tricia's mom's birthday. I couldn't stop thinking about how hard today would be on her. We've lost too many wonderful people this year. Then, I couldn't stop thinking about the team presentation I had today. I kept going over all of the details in my mind and thinking of things I needed to remind the team. Would it be good enough for an A? Anyway, it was a long night that even involved a tearful text message to my brother, Phillip. He is so strong for me. I love him for that and so many more reasons!

Today I have therapy at 3:00. Would it be acceptable for me to sleep during therapy? Isn't sleep therapeutic??? I guess the shrink would really think I was depressed then... if I wasn't motivated enough to stay awake during the session! :-)

Gourmet Masterpieces

Tonight the magic happens!
Tonight we start the detailed art of designing beautiful Christmas Candy Masterpieces.

Dawn and Tiffany are coming over tonight for a baking sleepover.
By tomorrow afternoon our delicacies should be perfected.

Frickn'

Tonight I drove Calvin through a neighborhood that had beautiful Christmas light displays.  We were both in awe.  From the backseat my little Angel said, "This is frickn' awesome, Mom!"
I silently chuckled because it was so darn cute.
Then, I told him we shouldn't say "frickn'".  It's really not a nice word to use.  I guess we need to be more careful of the words we use around him!  Then again... it could have been worse... he could have dropped the f-bomb!

Writer's Workshop

Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop Assignment
This week, I am choosing to write about 2 prompts.

1st - Allergies.
Ummm... if you know me, you know how bad my seasonal allergies (hayfever) and allergy to cats are.  I remember as a child not being able to open my eyes for they were swollen shut.  I sneezed a ridiculous amount of times.  It's a wonder I never pee'd my pants!  And it has been routine for my body to break out in a rash when the yard is being mowed.
Then, 2 years ago I went to see a local chiropractor/natural cures Dr.  She's a little different... not like a regular Dr at all.  Did some weird arm thing, blood on a cotton ball, and grabbed my butt cheek.  Whatever she did, IT WORKED!  It took like 6 sessions to build up an immunity against various molds, grasses, and dust.  But, I am sooo much better now!
--------------   -------------  --------------
Another thing about me and allergies.  I am an extremely picky eater.  I don't like to try new foods.  So, I tell people I'm allergic so they stop pushing me to try something.  It works!

2nd - Taking A New Road In Life.
A couple weeks ago I decided to take Advent this year to really focus on myself.  There are things I'd like to change about myself.  If you never acknowledge there are problems to work on, they can't be fixed.  And if you don't take the time and effort to work on those problems, you will probably get nowhere.
I am not a bad person.  I just want to work on a few things, that at this time I'm not going to share.  I have met people in my life that have qualities I admire.  These people unknowlingly inspire me to be a better person; the person that I want to be.
Part of my process to rediscovering me and making need be alterations, is to separate myself from certain situations that have caused me an exhausting amount of stress.  I cannot put my full focus on other people, especially during Advent.  And, along the way I may hurt some feelings.  But, in the end I have to take care of myself and my family.  I am only one person.  If only I could accept it.
I know that my journey on this new path will last far longer than Advent.  But, dedicating a few weeks should help me to getting a good start.
Wish me luck!

2009 Calendar

It arrived!  Yay!
Last week I ordered a 2009 Day Planner.
A day planner is essential for my days to go as planned.
And I always have to have a plan.  :-)
I looked long and hard for the specific day planner for 2009.
I wanted one with pictures of my family in it...
like the regular wall calendars you can order with pictures in them.
It was hard to come by personalized day planners.
But, finally I found them at Wal-Mart.
There is only 1 picture on the front - but it makes the day planner so perfect!
Hopefully, someday there will be more options for day planners
where I can add more pictures inside/outside the planner
as well as important dates/birthdays/anniversaries/etc.
As for now, I'm happy with what I got!!!  :-)
Take a look!

Exam Surprise

I am always late for my 9:00 Intro To Networking Class.
I hate mornings.
I can't get there on time... even when I try... and leave the house on time, I get behind some slow driver and am still late.
I'm usually only 4-13 minutes late.  That's not too bad.
Apparently on Monday during the first 9 minutes the teacher announced that our final exam would be on Wednesday instead of during the regularly scheduled time next week.
Since I was late, I did not get the notice.
I showed up to class this morning... only 7 minutes late.  :-)
The whole class was taking a test!
WHAT?!?
The teacher gave me the exam.
I got a B.
I guess that's what I get for being late for class.

Tis The Season For Candy Canes!

Mmmmm... Candy Canes!
I've eaten at least 2 boxes of Sweet-Tart and Spree flavored ones!
So yummy!

50 Calories each makes them even better! Oh, and no fat! :-)

Uncle Rick as St. Nick?

Friday night St. Nick Came.
He brought yummy candies and Christmas movies for us all to enjoy.  :-)
St. Nick is good to us!
For the first time, Calvin is really starting to understand the holidays.  But there's one thing he still doesn't get about St Nick... he calls him Uncle Rick.
It's cute.
I'm guessing he is referring to Rick A.  Calvin spent the night w/ Tricia A. A few weeks ago and had fun playing w/ Uncle Rick.  Calvin believes that Uncle Rick snuck into our house and left the candy and movies.  Without a doubt, Rick definitely climb up Calvin's coolometer!  I'm sure Uncle Rick will have a great big hug coming his way next time we see him!

Birthday Wishes

Happy Birthday to my fabulous s-i-l!
I'm sure Matt and Caleb will make your birthday very special.
Enjoy it!
Don't forget to make a wish when you blow out your candles!

Like A Warm Summer Breeze...

Saturday, as I laid in the caribbean warm weather with a slight breeze, I closed my eyes and thought to myself, "This tanning bed rocks!"

Shorts in December?

We leave for Disney in less than 3 weeks.
I had never really thought about wearing shorts...
It's cold here.
Surely it's not too hot there.
I knew it would be warmer there - I'm not that stupid.
Then, I asked my aunt who was there last year @ the same time.
She said that they wore shorts during the day.
...
...
...
I have shorts.
Chris has shorts.
Calvin has shorts.
...
...
...
So, what's the problem?
...
I don't have a tan to be able to wear shorts!
I'm gonna have to start tanning!
No need to be super dark...
Just need some color that the evil winter has taken away from me.
...
Disney, we'll be there w/ our shorts on!

Mama Kat's Weekly Writing Assignment

Mama Kat's Weekly Writing Assignments:
1.) Tag! Post and write about the 6th picture from (the 6th folder of?) your Flickr account and then do the same for the 6th picture of the 6th folder on your computer.
2.) Are you still friends with you high school friends? Describe them.
3.) If you had to star in a reality tv show, which one would it be and why?
4.) Describe a time when your pet caused chaos.

I chose #1.

The 6th picture on my Dropshots account (bc I don't do Flickr) is....
Are you even surprised that it is my precious baby, Calvin? Of course it is! This was Calvin when he was 16 days old, sitting in his bouncy seat making goofy faces at his silly mom who was/is obsessed with taking pictures of him. Looking back, he was sooo tiny! Now, he's 3 and definitely not a baby anymore.

The 6th picture of the 6th folder on my computer:
CALVIN!
Duh!
This was at the 2007 harness races at the county fair.  We were spending the afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa at the horse races.  Calvin loved it!  Grandpa and I didn't win a thing.  :-(  But, we had a GREAT time.  I love family memories like these - no stress, just smiles... and lemon shake-ups!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today my mother celebrated her 29th birthday.  Yes, 29.  Because we're not counting over 30 and yes... her looks are deceiving... she really is over 30!  But anyway, she is 29 again today!  YAY!  Calvin and I took her to the Hilton for lunch.  Calvin gave her a Madagascar Move It card and pink pearl earrings.  I gave her a beautiful card signed Olive Juice and a Tiffany's necklace.  She loved her gifts.  I loved that she smiled.

Mom,
I hope you enjoyed your 29th birthday!!!  Looking forward to another year filled with laughter, smiles, and shopping!  Enjoy your Post-Birthday Day*!
Olive Juice

*Everybody knows that if you don't get a birthday week, you at least get a Birthday Eve, Birthday, and Post-Birthday Day.  :-)

All He Got...

Yesterday I went to Wal-Mart and spent $$$.  And all my husband got was a lousy pack of Picante Chicken Ramen Noodles!

I never knew Ramen came in picante flavors.  Since SSH always spices his ramen up so much, I decided this might be something he'd like.  I know... it was only 16 cents... but it was the thought, right?

Stupid Snow. Stupid Wind. Stupid Cold.

I loathe this cold weather.
I'm a sunshine lovin' kinda girl.
If I want snow, I'll go to Vail for a weekend.
I do not like snow where I live.
Not even the little bit we have.
I do not like the cold wind.
Evil wind spits snow in my eyes.
I don't like snowy weather drivers.
Many of them are just plain stupid...
Stupid like the weather.
Is it April,  yet?
Is it July when we can be out on the boat?
I may go to Tan Express for warm/sunburn weather.
Snow, go away!
Stay away!
Go to
Dawn's
She wants you!
I do not!

Thankful
